MTB Guide
Cycling slowly, observing nature, living a unique experience: The Wandering Bike is a journey to the most beautiful places in Umbria, led by Daniele.
More about me
Certified MTB guide, born and raised in Trasimeno. The bike has always been my passion and every path is a good opportunity for me to wander, discovering new views and new landscapes. Cycling in nature has something magical: there is always something unexplored, and for this reason I live every trip with the same enthusiasm of a traveller. I love the lake and the places where I live, the soft hills between Umbria and Tuscany and the panoramic mountains of the Apennines. I love colors, an essential part of my profession as a graphic designer and photographer.
The territory
Umbria is a region to experience, cycling slowly through the countryside.
Perugia, the ancient Etruscan capital, overlooks the Tiber and Mount Subasio. From there, thanks to the Perugia-Trasimeno cycle path, you can easily reach the lake.
Trasimeno is surrounded by hills full of olive groves, vineyards, golden fields and villages of unique charm: Castiglione del Lago, Paciano, Panicale, Piegaro, Città della Pieve, Passignano sul Trasimeno, Tuoro sul Trasimeno, Magione and, not so far, Cortona. A beautiful cycle path allows you to discover the whole area, offering unforgettable moments of discovery and relaxation.
Around the enchanted valleys of the region are Assisi, Spello, Foligno, Bevagna, Montefalco, Trevi and Spoleto. The Assisi-Spoleto cycle route passes through these magical places, cradle of Sagrantino and top-quality olive oil.
The river Tiber runs from north to south, touching on Todi and Città di Castello: the splendid Tiber Cycle Route departs from the upper Tiber town and reaches Perugia. Further afield are the mountains of Gubbio and Gualdo Tadino, Monte Cucco, the Sibillini Mountains and the entire Apennines, places where cycling experiences become more adventurous.
To the south, Terni, Narni, Amelia and Orvieto elegantly display their thousand-year history. Hermits of all ages have passed through the woods of the Valnerina, which today are home to the Nera Greenway: this is one of the most beautiful cycle paths in the region, along with the route of the old Spoleto-Norcia railway that reaches the heart of the Sibillini mountains.
