This tour provides you with the best of the area while keeping a more relaxed pace. While the distances are a bit shorter & the hills less steep, however, the wines are just as rich. After all, this is your vacation: your opportunity to slow down, relax, & savor every moment.
You will begin in the charming town of Cortona, famous for its Etruscan tombs from the 6th century BC. From there you’ll bike towards Solomeo, the hamlet of the cashmere, and then Perugia, the Renaissance jewel, where you can taste its world-famous Perugina chocolates. Descending into the vineyard hills & olive groves, you then find the enchanting Deruta, where they have been making artisan ceramics since the 13th century. You’ll arrive then in Assisi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to great early Renaissance masterpieces by Giotto, Simone Martini & Cimabue. Your trip will end in Bevagna and then Spello, marvelous hamlets full of story and traditions.

Itinerary
Day 1: Arrivo a Cortona
You will be met at Santa Maria degli Angeli station and transferred to your hotel. Visit this beautiful town and you are given your informative kit: road books, maps, guide book and vouchers, You will also receive and try your bikes.
Day 2: From Cortona to Solomeo
Trasimeno lake is known for its olive covered surrounding hills, the lovely villages and the bamboo ridden shores, a resting place for migrating birds. Take a boat to Isola Maggiore where old ladies weave their age-old laces. Discover Montecolognola viewpoint over the lake, Monte del Lago, and San Feliciano fisherman village; Spend the night in a lovely country Inn in Solomeo, the hamlet of the cashmere.
Day 3: Solomeo Loop
Today a beautiful loop ride awaits you. You will ride along country roads surrounded by greenery where you will enjoy beautiful views of Perugia and southern Umbria. You will pass through tiny and charming villages such as Sant’Apollinare, Mercatello and Spina.
Day 4: From Solomeo to Perugia
Your day destination is Perugia, the main town in Umbria, with its fine square and communal palace, its renaissance painting collection, and the Rocca Paolina, the subterranean town. Perugia is also a lively town with shops and fashionable boutiques.
Day 5: From Perugia to Assisi
We are now in the heart of Umbria; from Perugia you will descend toward the Tiber River, which will stay by your side for a few kilometers. Leaving the river, along roads with little traffic you will pass through Civitella d’Arna and Pianello to arrive at majestic Assisi. You will spend the night in a delightful Country Inn within walking distance of the Basilica.
Day 6: Assisi Loop
Today you are in for another beautiful loop ride to Torgiano and Deruta. The first important place of wine tradition and the second home of the famous ceramics.
Day 7: From Assisi to Spello
We pedal through the heart of Umbria, among the most luxuriant olive groves: from Assisi to Spello via Cannara and Bevagna, the pretty medieval town where a great medieval festival is held every summer with ancient workshops and costumes. Overnight stay in Spello.
